Abstract
Engineering industries require evermore capable and efficient turbulence modelling for CFD analysis of complex applications. At University of Manchester, various shortfalls of turbulence models are investigated and flow features which can be a challenge to capture with conventional models are identified as a focus point for further investigations. In the first part of this presentation some novel contributions to RANS turbulence modelling from University of Manchester, which are now incorporated into industrial software, will be presented. The latter part will be focusing on motorsport applications as a case study to elaborate on the research method undertaken to improve RANS modelling.
