Abstract

One of the persistent laments of analysts focusing on the Kazakhstan postsecondary education system is the absence of consistent, and, in some cases, reliable data for comparing institutions, on the one hand, and, on the other, for generating a reliable summary of the postsecondary education system as a whole. The Kazakhstan Data Warehouse Project – a joint effort of the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education and the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education – is a multi-year effort to solve both of these problems by developing and training individual institutions in the use of a multi-institutional data utility loosely modeled after the IPEDS data system in the United States. Robert Zemsky of the University of Pennsylvania will describe the progress of the Data Warehouse Project to date, demonstrate its software, and outline the project’s training and development plans for the next two years.
