Abstract
My talk suggests ways to write an account of B. R. Ambedkar’ political thought that acknowledges both his under-acknowledged centrality to modern Indian sociopolitical thought, and his role as a global thinker of social inequality and dehumanization. I will focus on how this might warrant rethinking the project of global intellectual history and studies of subaltern thought. I will do so by exploring the relationship between the keywords “democracy,” “minority,” and “history” as a significant node in Ambedkar’s thought.
