Abstract
The talk will focus on aspects of recent work with Xiong Jin. We will first discuss generalised random cascade measures and sets which have some underlying self-similar structure that allows ergodic methods to be applied. This leads to conclusions about the the geometric and dimensional properties of such sets and measures, including fractal percolation sets which are in turn used to establish properties of deterministic self-similar sets.
