Abstract
The Executive Director of the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, a Cambridge University research centre that analyses extreme risks that may emerge from technological advances, Dr Ó hÉigeartaigh has managed a set of research projects at the Oxford Martin School and Future of Humanity Institute, and has a PhD in bioinformatics genome evolution from Trinity College Dublin – in essence, this is a guy who knows his stuff!
He’ll be discussing possible long-run impacts and risks of artificial intelligence, as well as giving an overview of the Centre’s planned research on extreme technological risk management more generally. As ever, the talk is free and there will be the usual free wine and nibbles at the end, so do come along!
