Abstract
Abstract: Estimating the behaviour of multiple objects within complex systems is a multi-faceted problem that challenges both theoreticians and practitioners. Even when the dynamics and the observation of these objects in their environment is well understood, a suitably general mathematical framework is required to translate the modelling choices into a proper estimation algorithm. During this presentation, the limitations of existing approaches from the target tracking literature will be discussed and how these are overcome by improving the representation of multi-object systems. Examples and results will be drawn from several application areas including biology, space situational awareness and maritime surveillance.
