Despite great advances in sequencing technologies, our knowledge in population structure, phylogeny and adaptation of great apes is still limited. Our group is working to provide a better understanding on the demographic patterns that shapes the diversity of these species, with special focus on chimpanzee species. We will also discuss how differential patterns in tandem repeat variation and CpG methylation between humans and great apes contributes to the evolution of our species.
