Abstract
Dr. Phil Selenko, will provide an update on his developments that enable in-cell aggregate characterisation. Hee will present recent progress in applying in-cell NMR and EPR methods to delineate full-scale atomic-resolution descriptions of the structure(s) and dynamics of the intrinsically disordered human amyloid protein alpha-synuclein in different mammalian cell types. Specifically, he will address whether specialized cells such as dopaminergic neurons promote the conversion of monomeric alpha-synuclein into folded helical tetramers as has been suggested recently. In that sense, ‘to fold or not to fold’ is the question that he intends to answer in this seminar.
