Abstract
Our research focuses on looking for heterogeneity in disease type and disease stage. Understanding and detecting this heterogeneity will be important for developing stratified medicine approaches.
I will start by giving a brief overview of the research that we have done to look for blood-based biomarkers (genetic, proteomic and metabolomics) of Alzheimer¹s disease, for the enrichment of prevention trials.
The majority of the talk will be dedicated to early work on the detection of heterogeneity in the progression of continuous measures. This work can be seen as an attempt to use time series data to better phenotype individuals. To achieve this we have been using and developing clustering approaches that are sensitive to time-delayed correlation, but that can cope with heterogeneous sparse time points. I will present a simulation study before showing examples using biological, medical and wearable (i.e. remote monitoring technology) datasets.
Series This talk is part of the MRC Biostatistics Unit Seminars series.
