Abstract
David Pitt-Watson, former Chair of Hermes Focus Funds and currently Executive Fellow in Finance at London Business School, is a leading thinker and practitioner in the field of responsible investment and business practice. The title of his talk is:
“What they do with our money: What is wrong with the financial system and how to fix it”
After the 2008 crisis, no-one can be in any doubt about the importance of the finance industry. It is the “nervous system” of capitalism – if it fails, so does the economy. But few, even those who want to work in the industry, or who criticise it from the outside have stepped back and asked “what is its purpose?” and “How well does it fulfil that role?”
Series This talk is part of the Capitalism on the Edge series.
