An introduction to Ricci solitons
- đ¤ Speaker: Alejandro Betancourt (Oxford)

- đ Venue: MR13
Abstract
Ricci solitons are generalizations of Einstein metrics. They were introduced by R. Hamilton in the late 80’s to study the behaviour of the Ricci flow. In this talk I will discuss some of the basic notions around Ricci solitons and see how they are used to understand the Ricci flow. In particular we will analyse the long time behaviour of the flow and study its singularities via blow-up methods.
