Graphical linear algebra and applications

Abstract
I will introduce the symmetric monoidal theory of interacting Hopf monoids, which is a string diagrammatic language capable of capturing most standard concepts of finite-dimensional linear algebra. I will briefly outline recent work on applications to signal flow graphs, a classical formalism in control theory and signal processing. Various results in the talk are the result of joint work with Filippo Bonchi and Fabio Zanasi, and with Brendan Fong and Paolo Rapisarda. I have been blogging about graphical linear algebra at
