Designing metal forming machines

Despite the rising popularity of additive and subtractive methods, forming remains the dominant process in manufacturing. More efficient forming machines can lead to massive savings in materials and energy. New machines are typically incremental improvements on existing designs, while frequently tedious simulations and testing are required for insights on those possible improvements. A novel method for inventing features of flexible sheet forming processes is presented, with a brief explanation of potential applications.
