Abstract
Communicating research findings to a non-academic audience and ways of enhancing impact are topics of increasing importance in research assessment. This workshop will therefore explore some of the practicalities of communicating with print and broadcast media outlets. Nick Saffell (Communication Officer film and digital media) will show you how to make your research look attractive, and Dr John Nilsson-Wright (Darwin Fellow) will talk about what he learnt from working with the international media, including interview techniques, writing for online publications, and some of the avoidable pitfalls involved in managing events involving the press and government institutions.
