Abstract
In algebraic geometry over fields of characteristic p several standard tools from characteristic 0 stop working. As a compensation for these missing tools characteristic p provides a new one: the Frobenius morphism. The Frobenius morphism leads to the notion of Frobenius split and diagonally split varieties. These properties have very strong consequences for the geometry of the variety. For example, on diagonally split varieties every ample divisor is very ample and induces a projectively normal embedding. In this talk I will discuss how these properties behave in the presence of a torus action.
