Abstract
This seminar is an introduction to mixed reality and working with Microsoft HoloLens. Trimble Navigation has been one of Microsoft’s earliest commercial partners on the HoloLens project. The first application proof of concept was shown during the Microsoft Build conference in San Francisco in 2015. Trimble has since developed application concepts for mining, architecture, civil engineering and construction.
The talk will focus on the basic concepts of mixed reality, technical challenges and user interface considerations, as well as introducing the audience to the toolset Trimble uses to consider other platforms.
Kim Nyberg leads the Technology unit within Trimble Buildings. The unit develops shared technology and components for Trimble’s Engineering and Construction sectors and has been involved in the company’s Mixed Reality Programme since its inception. Kim has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the Helsinki University of Technology (nowadays Aalto University). He has been working with Tekla Corporation, acquired by Trimble in 2011, since 1991.
