Abstract

A hands-on workshop introducing the principles of Network Science and Network Analysis with applications in R

Supported by the ELPEC academic group, this two-day workshop will be facilitated by Radu Tanase, researcher at the University of Zurich (Switzerland), and will feature a talk by Dr Frank Cornelissen, Faculty of Education University of Cambridge.

The goal of this workshop is to provide an overview of the models and techniques used in network science. The participants will learn to visualize, analyse and interpret network data. The focus will be on understanding the structure and formation of networks, quantifying the role of individuals and groups in a network and developing a good understanding of how the network structure affects process like social influence or epidemic spreading. The lectures will be supported with applications in R.

Registration (until the 15th of April) is open to all, but please note that spaces are limited to 16 to account for the interactive nature of the workshop. Computers with relevant software will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own machine.
