Join us for this panel and Q&A hosted by Cambridge UCU to discuss the Governmentās Higher Education White Paper, its sweeping plans to turn universities into privatised and marketised hubs for the ‘knowledge economy’, and more positively, how we can develop alternative visions of the value and future of higher education in the UK.
Our four speakers, including two contributors to āThe Alternative White Paper for Higher Educationā, will discuss the likely impact of the governmentās proposed reforms to UK universities, the Teaching Excellence Framework, the implications of the White Paper for underrepresented groups, and how we might find a way forward. Each speaker will deliver some introductory remarks, to be followed by an open Q&A and discussion.
Attendees may wish to consult āThe Alternative White Paper for Higher Educationā beforehand. Open access PDF available here: https://heconvention2.wordpress.com/alternative
