Abstract
Advances in next-generation sequencing platforms have reshaped the landscape of genomic and epigenomic research towards the understanding of roles of human transposable elements. Large consortiums such as the ENCODE and the Roadmap Epigenomics have generated tens of thousands of sequencing-based genome-wide datasets, creating a reference and resource for the scientific community. These data provide an opportunity to map the epigenetic landscape of transposable element across many tissue and cell types. In the presentation I will discuss tools developed for this purpose and present some results from investigating regulatory roles of transposable elements.
