Abstract
Details to follow.
The Hangenberg event at the end of Late Devonian affected continental ecology with the loss many vertebrate groups. Until recently, the following 20 My was considered a depauperate interval for continental vertebrate fossils especially tetrapods. Our work in the Tournaisian has uncovered many new chondrichthyans, lungfishes and tetrapods. Instead, the Tournaisian saw a rapid diversification of these groups. Recovery from the Hangenberg event reset the trajectory of vertebrate evolution to the present day.
