Abstract
The approach of optimal control of a chemical reaction has been used to reveal important details of barrier-less photo-induced isomerization of two cyanine molecules in alcohol solutions. By adaptive excitation pulse shaping we could expressed the contribution of coherent nuclear motions in these molecules to the outcome of isomerization reactions. We have also used the novel approach of Pump-Shaped Dump-Probe to visualize the wave packet motion on the excited state potential of the isomerizing molecule.
