Structure and Function of TIFA - A New Player in Immunity and Cancer
- 👤 Speaker: Prof Ming-Daw Tsai (Academia Sinica in Taiwan)
- 📅 Date & Time: Monday 10 October 2016, 15:00 - 16:00
- 📍 Venue: Biochemistry Seminar Room, Sanger Building
Abstract
TRAF -interacting protein with FHA domain (TIFA) was first reported by M. Kanamori et al. to activate NF-κB, and it was recently shown to be a key player in the NF-κB-driven innate immunity. In this seminar I will discuss our recent reports on the mechanism and structural basis for the function of TIFA in the activation of NF-κB, as well as unpublished results suggesting that TIFA functionally mediates the Aurora A-driven NF-κB survival pathway in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and that TIFA mediates innate immune response through assembly of NLRP3 inflammasome.
