Dr Perle will be visiting the Sedgwick Museum on Monday 26 February. While here he will be able to display the skulls of some dinosaurs that he has collected from Mongolia:

  • Erlicosaurus (complete skull)
  • Segnosaurus (partial skull)

Museum Director Dr David Norman commented: “These are two rather enigmatic dinosaurs that have been recovered from the Late Cretaceous, and have attracted a considerable amount of interest. In many respects they bear the hall-marks of typical carnivorous dinosaurs (such as Velociraptor and Tarbosaurus – both of which hail from the Mongolian Late Cretaceous). These two however are not out-and-out predators: their teeth are rather small, and not as adapted for tearing flesh as would be expected. Indeed they seem to represent a group of ancestrally predatory forms that are experimenting with omnivory or herbivory as an alternative way of life – fascinating evolutionary story (if true).”

The skulls will be on display in the Museum from 11:00 until 11:30 for this one day only.
