Abstract
In this talk, I will outline a set of desiderata for general communication-based AI. I will then describe CommAI-env, a controlled environment we are currently developing, in which machines face a number of simple tasks designed to trigger the sort of basic abilities that artificial systems should possess in order to be able to interact with humans and learn further skills from them.
