Modern astronomy involves the study of surveys of many hundreds of thousands of galaxies in an attempt to understand how the Universe around us came to be the way it is. Surprisingly, the results lead us to consider a surprising question: is our own Milky Way special, or are we living within just another humdrum spiral? The Sky at Night’s Chris Lintott (an ex-CUAS chairman) will consider this question, including results from the Galaxy Zoo project he leads.

All regular talks and obsnights are free to members (or cost £2 for non-members) – membership can be bought (£12 life, £7 annual) at any of our regular events.
