An overview of molecular imaging: from macroscopic to microscopic level
- đ¤ Speaker: Bangwen Xie (Cancer Research Uk C.I.) and Jerome Boulanger (MRC L.M.B)
- đ Date & Time: Wednesday 23 November 2016, 18:30 - 20:00
- đ Venue: Postdoc Centre, 16 Mill Lane
Abstract
A promising research field is the use of whole-body non-invasive optical and opto-acoustic imaging modalities to select the most effective treatment for tumours. The speakers will discuss how a specific cell death probe, C2Am, can be used to detect the early responses of cancer cells to therapy using macroscopic imaging.
Another hot topic that will be presented is computational microscopy. Examples of how extended sensitivity and resolution can be achieved by using computational methods will be discussed, together with new algorithms that increase the capability of flourescence microscopes and provide insight into the dynamics of molecular complexes.
