Abstract
Understanding turbulence in stably stratified flows is essential to build accurate weather and climate prediction models. Compared to homogeneous isotropic turbulence, stratified turbulence unveils a richer dynamics: energy spectra slopes vary with the stratification strength, vertical velocity and temperature fields possess a bursty character and helicity matters. These are the issues we have focused on and studied numerically. I will also discuss the challenges posed by our numerical approach.
