Abstract
Modular representation theory is all about describing representations of groups or algebras over fields of positive characteristic, when complete reducibility (e.g. Maschke’s theorem) fails to hold. In this talk I will introduce a class of interesting representations called tilting modules, show some ways in which their structure is much nicer than one might expect, and conclude with a few (large) unresolved questions and how one might go about solving them.
