Abstract
How can the performance of an Olympic athlete be improved, when they already represent the current limits of human movement? This is the challenge presented to the human movement scientists working alongside elite athletes and their coaches competing in World and Olympic competitions. This talk will discuss contemporary scientific theories of how and why humans move the way we do, and how these ideas have been applied to enhance the performance of elite athletes. Some of these ideas will challenge beliefs of βidealβ or βmodelβ movement techniques and shed light on how athletes of all abilities can improve their sporting performance.
The talk is free and there will be cheese and wine!
