Abstract
In recent years, there has been impressive progress in additive and subtractive manufacturing, most commonly seen in 3D printers and CNC machines. However, a third major manufacturing method, forming, has seen little substantial change in decades. This talk will discuss the origins of this discrepancy and the potential for forming to be automated in the near future, in particular for sheet metal.
Series This talk is part of the Wolfson College Science Society series.
