Athena SWAN - My Life in science Seminar "There’s more to academia than research, you know"
- 👤 Speaker: Dr Danny Kingsley; Head of Scholarly Communication, University of Cambridge
- 📅 Date & Time: Monday 23 January 2017, 13:00 - 14:00
- 📍 Venue: Babraham - The Brian Heap Seminar Room
Abstract
Danny’s research centres on scholarly communication with a specific interest in open access, research assessment, peer review, authorship and higher education. Her role at the University of Cambrdge involves opening access to research outputs – publications and data – which involves aspects of advocacy, professional development, research and communication. This requires developing relationships with all levels, from the individual researcher, to editors and publishers of journals and monographs, funding bodies, research institutions and government.
Danny will be discussing her role supporting academic research, how she came to be working in this field and why this is a relevant and rewarding career area for researchers considering a move away from the bench.
