Abstract
TeV-scale new physics addressing the naturalness problem can leave footprints on electroweak precision observables. In the absence of new light states, effective field theories (EFT) provide a general consistent framework to characterize deviations from the Standard Model. On the other hand, some less complete frameworks have been historically influential, including the oblique parameters (most notably S and T parameters) formalism and triple-gauge coupling parameterization. I will discuss the assumptions about UV physics underlying the use of these simplified frameworks, and argue that with recent experimental and theoretical progress, it is time to go beyond them and adopt the more general EFT framework in precision electroweak analyses.
