Discussion with staff members: Job hunting; getting published

Abstract
These informal discussions have been requested by a number of students. On job hunting, we will offer advice on when and how to apply for jobs, how to choose whether to take a non-ideal job, and so on. Most members of staff will come prepared to talk about their experiences, for example of going abroad to work, and decisions about whether/when to return “home”. But it will work best if you come with your own questions, experiences, hopes and worries too. On getting published, we will offer general guidelines, especially for reviewing, but as expectations and procedures about publication are somewhat different in the different branches of linguistics, it will again work best if you bring specific examples and questions with you.
Series This talk is part of the Linguistics PhD seminars series.
