Abstract
Universal Grammar is a fundamental (though disputed) notion in linguistics. Over the past decades our understanding of it has changed non-trivially. In this talk, I will first provide a brief introduction to grammatical universals and then discuss a series of linguistic phenomena that can(not) be attributed to Universal Grammar. I will also talk a bit about my own project (flexibility of syntactic categories) and how it contributes to the exploration of the human language competence.
Series This talk is part of the Caius MCR/SCR research talks series.
