Abstract
The ability to control the molecule/crystallite orientation of “semiconducting” molecules is on the one hand a prerequisite for optimizing organic device performance while, on the other, it is necessary for unambiguous determinations of their physical properties. With examples from sexiphenyl (6P), sexithiophene (6T) and pentacene (5A) we will discuss the means of obtaining thick organic films with various unique crystalline orientations and then use them to investigate the intra- and inter-molecular band dispersion in crystalline organic films.
