Abstract
The great push in the 2010’s of biology has been the development of a cellular atlas that aims to create a detailed gene expression map of a single cell in every tissue and determine the molecular events that lead to their development or deregulation in disease.
Recent advances have made it possible to quantify transcriptomes of thousands of cells in a single experiment. Techniques for profiling a wide range of epigenomic features in single cells have also been developed, which when combined with RNA sequencing from the same cell are powerful methods for understanding the regulatory mechanisms underlying cell fates.
The speakers will discuss Drop-Seq, a method for shallow sequencing of thousands of single cells as well as recent updates to single-cell bisulfite technology which allows simultaneous profiling of DNA methylation, chromatin accessibility and gene expression.
