Abstract
Birational geometry of exceptional sets in Manin’s conjecture Abstract: Manin’s conjecture is a conjectural asymptotic formula for the counting function of rational points on a Fano variety. To capture the generic distribution of rational points on the variety, it is important to remove the contribution from an exceptional set since it is possible that rational points are accumulating along subvarieties. In this talk we discuss birational geometry of exceptional sets in Manin’s conjecture using the minimal model program and the boundedness of Fano varieties. This is joint work with Brian Lehmann.
