Abstract
Developments in high resolution, live cell microscopy have opened opportunities for characterizing mechanisms of transcription factor chromatin interactions and transcriptional regulation in vivo in real time. These approaches show the nucleus as a highly dynamic environment, with factors exchanging on regulatory elements on time scales of seconds. We aim to integrate findings from these new approaches with the wealth of data from genome wide studies to understand mechanisms of transcriptional regulation on the molecular scale.
