Abstract
The Boy and The Brothers by Swami Omananda Puri, published in 1959, describes the author’s early life and later encounters with William Coote (the ‘Boy’ of the title), their journey from London to India with the spectres of WWII and Partition in the background and their attempts to spread the teachings of the ‘Brothers’. In this talk, Dawood will discuss his research into the book, including finding descendants of Swami Omananda Puri, and his current project of translating the work into a parallel live/screen adaptation supported by a residency at the National Studio Theatre.
