The Cambridge University German Society warmly invites you to our third Speaker Event of Michaelmas Term!
Dr. h.c. Charlotte Knobloch has been President of the Israelitische Kultusgemeinde München und Oberbayern since 1985. She was Vice President from 1997 until 2006 and then President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany (Zentralrat der Juden in Deutschland) from 2006 until 2010.
Due to her outstanding commitment to the reconciliation between Jews and non-Jews in Munich, she was made an honorary citizen of Munich in 2005.
In addition to numerous prizes and honours, she was awarded the Large Federal Cross of Merit with star (Großer Verdienstkreuz mit Stern des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) in 2010, one of the highest orders of merit available in Germany.
The topic of her talk will be: ‘Eine persönliche Perspektive auf das jüdische Leben in Deutschland – vom Wiederaufbau 1945 bis heute – seine Herausforderungen und Gefahren’.
