Abstract
Compensated compactness is a functional-analytic framework which deals with the following problem: given a weakly convergent sequence of functions, what can we say about the limit of this sequence when we apply to it a nonlinear functional? This is a typical setup in nonlinear PDE , where we try to get approximate solutions and hope that they converge to a true solution. We will discuss the div-curl lemma, Young measures and applications to PDEs.
