Abstract
A particular concern across the University of late is the disparity in results between women and men in the Tripos, and one potential cause often cited is ‘writing style’. In fact, many female undergraduates have reported that they have been told to ‘write like a man’ by supervisors of both sexes. This talk will look at what actually matters in academic writing style in English, thereby (hopefully) defusing the carelessly phrased advice
Series This talk is part of the Sidgwick Site Equalities Improvement Network series.
