The magnetization distribution in the quantum Ising chain, the Kondo problem, and a point contact between 5/2 edges

Abstract
I show how three seemingly different physics problems can be solved at once. The quantities computed are: the probability distribution P(M_z) of the magnetization in the ground state of the quantum Ising chain; the partition function of the anisotropic Kondo problem; and the entanglement entropy resulting from a point contact in a p+ip superconductor or a fractional quantum Hall device in the nu=5/2 Moore-Read state.
