Abstract
Join THIS Institute for a talk by Dr Kaveh Shojania MD, Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Quality and Safety, who will discuss quality improvement interventions and lessons for clinicians and researchers on Wednesday 24 January, 1300 – 1400. No bookings are required, all welcome.
Dr. Shojania is a hospital-based general internist and researcher at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto, where he is also a Vice Chair in the Department of Medicine and directs the Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (C-QuIPS).
Dr. Shojaniaโs research focuses on identifying and further developing effective strategies for achieving improved quality of care. He has more than 150 publications indexed in Medline, including papers in leading journals such as NEJM , JAMA, and the Lancet. Google Scholar lists approximately 14,000 citations to his work for an h-index of 56.. Dr. Shojania held a Canada Research Chair in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement from 2004-2013. He has produced multiple evidence reports and helped build two websites for the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, such as www.PSNet.ahrq.gov which receives approximately 3 million visits a year. For this and other work, Dr. Shojania shared one of the John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety Awards (2004) from the US Joint Commission and the National Quality Forum for work in patient safety that has had an impact on a national level. In January 2011, Dr. Shojania became editor-in-chief of BMJ Quality and Safety (part of the British Medical Journal Publishing Group), which has since become the highest impact journal in the field of health care quality, as well as the broader fields of health services research and health policy.
