Abstract
As demands on software applications change over time, it’s helpful to know what programming techniques might be useful. New requirements have led to the extension of old languages and the creation of new ones. In this talk, I will present functional and reactive programming and how features from both can be exploited in Java. I will also look at the early developments in Java and how it became what it is today and how it incorporates functional and reactive concepts.
