Abstract
The Cambridge Migration Society presents a panel discussion on the hostile environment and the NHS in the UK. We will be joined by representatives of Doctors of the World and Docs Not Cops who will discuss implications of the hostile environment on migrants’ access to healthcare. Docs Not Cops is a campaign group of NHS professionals and patients who believe health is a right and not a privilege. Doctors of the World is an independent humanitarian movement working at home and abroad to empower excluded people to access healthcare.
Speakers: Dr Peter Gough, Doctors of the World Dr Jessica Potter, Docs Not Cops
About Dr Gough: Peter has been an NHS Family Doctor since 1984 and in 2000 became involved in projects in Rajasthan, India addressing issues of migration, health, education, housing and the lack of opportunities for girls and women. Peter joined Doctors of the World as a volunteer GP in 2015 and regularly works in their clinics in East London, serving undocumented migrants, asylum seekers, refugees and the homeless.
