One origin for the study of run&tumble particles is in electric signaling, which gives rise to the one-dimensional telegraph process and equation. In the seminar we will discuss more unusual appearances of run&tumble particles, outside the strict context of biophysics or material science. Examples include wave phenomena, the precise relation with the Dirac equation, their appearance in modeling solar plasma and the connection with the six-vertex model.
