Abstract
I will introduce the Einstein—Vlasov system, the governing equations of collisionless kinetic theory in general relativity, before presenting theorems on the stability of certain stationary vacuum solutions. The first theorems concern the nonlinear stability of the trivial solution, Minkowski space, for both the Einstein—massless Vlasov and Einstein—massive Vlasov systems. The massive case is joint with Hans Lindblad. Then I will present a theorem, joint with Mihalis Dafermos, Gustav Holzegel and Igor Rodnianski, on the full finite codimension nonlinear stability of the Schwarzschild family of black holes in vacuum.
