As more and more of our personal and professional communication moves online, effective protection is crucial. This is especially important for whistleblowers, journalists, and activists who might face state-level threat actors. Let’s together explore how “the Internet” works and what hides behind terms like end-to-end encryption, VPNs, metadata privacy, the dark web, and anonymity networks. At the end we use this background to look at some projects that are being developed here in Cambridge. This talk is for everyone and no previous knowledge is required.
