Abstract
Separability is an algebraic property enjoyed by nice subsets of groups, while quasiconvexity is a geometric property enjoyed by nice subsets of metric spaces. We will recall the notions of hyperbolic and relatively hyperbolic groups and say a few words about how these two different properties are related for their subgroups before going on to explain how separability can be used to obtain some nice “combination theorems” in this setting.
